Sambal Embe is a traditional Indonesian sambal made from a blend of chilies, garlic, and shallots. This sambal can be paired with any and every dish, adding a flavourful and spicy kick to meals.

  1. Fry the ingredients individually till they almost crisp up.
  2. Crumble the fried belacan with the fried chilli slices first before mixing it together with the fried shallots and garlic. 
  3. You will get a dry, crisp umami sambal which you can sprinkle on top just about anything and everything.
